It was a great surprise as Grant Flower came back to Zimbabwe after a long while. He came back for the national duty after a fruitful final season for Essex as they hold their own in the limited-overs competition.

However, they had to concede crash out in the semi-finals of both the Friends Provident t20 and the Clydesdale Bank 40 last season as he then came back to his home country for national duty once again.

The match was scheduled for Friday, October 8 at Bloemfontein as the start time was 6:00pm (1600 GMT).

This was a battle of next-door neighbours as South Africa tussled against Zimbabwe on Friday at Bloemfontein. Currently Zimbabwe is the regular opponent for South Africa as in the early stages of this season they fought for several times.

Last 20 of their previous 36 battle were between late August and early November. In paper work this short series is going to be just another struggle for Zimbabwe as they have managed to win only two encounters against their regional giant opponents.  And none of these wins were in the past decade.

However, this series is interesting as some of the old fellows from previous strong Zimbabwe have returned into the team. And another thing is that the two teams are going to meet for the first time in a Twenty20 international.
